FAQs

You must show a photo ID when you apply for one of our rental properties. All tenants and prospective tenants subject to a criminal background check.

APPLICATION: We charge a $34.95/applicant fee per adult. You can pay over the phone via credit card, or in person via cash, money order, check, debit or credit card. You can download an application here if you’d like to fill it in before you come in.

PETS: Pets are not allowed unless specifically approved by management. Each pet situation will be reviewed individually to consider approval. Aggressive animals are not accepted. There will be a $400 fee for the first pet and $350 for each additional pet. This is a non-refundable pet fee. Any tenant who sneaks in an unauthorized pet will be subject to a $350 fine plus be required to remove the pet immediately or be subject to eviction. There is also a $25.00 a month charge to rent for the pets.

VACANCY LOCATIONS: We offer over 350 homes in the Havelock area. There is a map of all available properties at this link. In addition, on the page listing any given vacancy, you will find a link for directions to that particular property. Click here to see a list of our vacancies.

VIEWING VACANCIES: Office Hours for viewing vacancies are earlier to ensure we get keys back prior to closing. On M-Sat we stop showing at 3:30pm, On Sun, we are closed. 

VACANCY AVAILABILITIES: We update our website at least once daily, so if a vacancy is listed, there is a 99% chance it is still available. If you located the vacancy via an outside source, such as Craigslist, we recommend that you double check our other website to see if the home if still available.

OFFICE LOCATION: Carteret Craven Real Estate’s office is located INSIDE the Furniture Distributors store. Furniture Distributors is located at 509 West Hwy 70 (on the left as you head towards New Bern). It is next to McDonalds and catty-corner across the street from Walmart (map on the Furniture Distributors link).

OFFICE HOURS: Monday – Saturday: 9am – 5pm with showings from 9am - 3:30pm;  Sunday: Closed

SECURITY DEPOSIT: Equivalent to one month’s rent in most cases.

UTILITIES: Are generally not included. Whenever they are included, it will specify in the individual property’s description. All homes in Craven county has a $5 per month recycling fee collected with the rent.

LATE FEES: We are very strict about collecting rent on time. Your rent is due on the first and late fees accrue beginning on the sixth day.

LAWN CARE: The tenant is responsible for the lawn care of any non-apartment yard unless specifically stated in the individual property’s description. At the Pine Villa complex, lawn care is included for the backyard, but if you have a grassy fence enclosed patio area, you would be responsible for maintaining that area. Anytime the landlord has to mow or maintain an area of the tenant’s responsibility, the tenant will be charged.

LEASE: We require a one year lease. Roosevelt Blvd Efficiency Apartments may be leased on a month-to-month, six month or annual basis. Sorry: No Section 8 accepted. On short term leases, there is a $25 upcharge in rent per month.

MILITARY CLAUSE: We honor and respect our military heros. Should a military tenant receive orders to move out of the area, he or she will be released from the lease with 30 days written notice and a copy of the orders.

MAINTENANCE: Any maintenance requests must be in writing.

FUTURE RENTAL NEEDS: If you need a new home in the future, you can email us on the form below and let us know your timetable, number of bedrooms needed, number of people, budget and type of home needed. We can look at our upcoming vacancies and get back to you.
